Strength IQ
How can you be sure the equipment you put on your floor will convince your prospects of the value of your fitness facility? Or better yet, will the equipment measure up to your current users’ expectations and keep them motivated to the point where they become loyal patrons?

These questions are important to consider when making a purchase decision. Especially when it comes to strength equipment. Until recently, resistance training has only been popular among certain user types. Thanks to more product variety, personal training services, and new research, strength equipment has become increasingly more appealing to everyone who walks through your door. It would be easy if all users were the same. There’d be one line of selectorized equipment, one training circuit, and one set of goals. But users are not the same. And with so many variables to consider, such as experience level, physical abilities and goal types, it’s difficult to know which equipment is right for your facility and your users…until now.

What's your Strength IQ?

Based on the key strength-training characteristics of stabilization, path of motion, and type of motion, the strength equipment in our product portfolio is categorized in three different classes. This equipment classification and identification system serves three purposes. It can be used as:
  • A guide for purchasing our products
  • A strategy for your staff to create additional personal training revenue opportunities
  • A map for all user types to experience continued growth and development in resistance training

Fundamental

The Fundamental category is strength training equipment that is the most popular, easiest to use, and appeals to all user types, from the novice to the more experienced. Regardless of experience level or goal type, this category serves as the baseline form of strength exercise.

Equipment:
PRO2 SERIES (20 pieces)
SIGNATURE SERIES (18 pieces)

Developmental

The Developmental category is more sophisticated strength-training equipment for facilities that want to offer greater depth and variety. Designed for slightly more experienced users, this category introduces a new set of biomechanics and provides a logical “next step” in the strength-training continuum. Anyone can benefit from working out on this type of equipment.
Equipment:
HAMMER STRENGTH – MTS (16 pieces)
HAMMER STRENGTH PLATE-LOADED (40 pieces)

Specialized

The Specialized category includes breakthrough innovations and revolutionary strength products, along with tried-and-true free weight exercises. It provides even the most advanced users with challenging workouts, new training techniques, and specialty training programs that focus on user stabilization, independent motion techniques, and user-defined paths of motion. However, users don’t need to be experts to use this type of equipment; they may just need the expert guidance of your personal trainers.

The Formula for Success

Our team of strength experts is well aware of the challenges you face in addressing the diverse and ever-changing fitness needs of your users. That’s why we make more lines of strength products than anybody else in the business. With over 200 different resistance training machines—free weight, plate-loaded, and selectorized—we offer the products that appeal to everyone. All of our strength products are engineered under three defining characteristics—stabilization, path of motion, type of motion—which inevitably determine the level of difficulty and benefits of the exercise one.

STABILIZATION

Machine Defined

Machine stabilization supports the user in the appropriate exercise position.

User Defined

User stabilization puts the onus on the user to maintain correct posture and position without the aid of a seat or back pad.

PATH OF MOTION

Machine Defined

Fixed path of motion means just that, the machine controls the arc of movement.

User Defined

User-defined motion means the arm of the machine is not fixed and therefore the user determines the path of motion.

TYPE OF MOTION

Dependent

Dependent movement requires the arms or legs to move together during the exercise.

Independent

Independent movement provides the freedom for a user to exercise each limb independently.
